2009 will be a difficult year for the world’s economy, and Venture Capital will be greatly affected. Many firms are focusing on their existing portfolio companies to ensure they have the funding required to meet their current obligations. In addition, private company valuations have declined along with the public markets. That said, new businesses will be funded in 2009, but it is likely to be at reduced valuations. In addition, companies will be expected to achieve more milestones with less funding, forcing an increased reliance on outourcing.
